About

From Islamabad to Silicon Valley.

Umar Dhudra is a blockchain technologist and entrepreneur who has spent over eight years at the frontier of Web3 — designing and shipping decentralized finance protocols, exchanges, cross-chain bridges, and oracle networks that are live in production and relied upon by third parties.

He founded Relymer Labs in 2017 and grew it into a Web3-native product-and-engineering studio delivering multi-million-dollar infrastructure for clients across the U.S., the Gulf, Europe, and Asia. His work spans a decentralized exchange that has processed over $2.1 billion in trading volume, the first Shariah-compliant DeFi protocol on the BNB Chain, and blockchain trade-finance frameworks adopted by a national government platform.

In 2025 he introduced Blockchain Talent as a Service (BTaaS) — a response to what AI coding tools did to the early stage of company building. With founders now generating their own MVPs, the scarce resource stopped being code and became the specialist judgment required to get that code onto a chain safely. BTaaS unbundles that expertise into hours rather than contracts, opening senior blockchain engineering to founders who could never have afforded a retained team.

Beyond building, Umar is a convener of the region's Web3 ecosystem, a sought-after judge and mentor at international hackathons and pitch competitions, and a speaker who has appeared at more than 400 events worldwide.

He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Bahria University, Islamabad (2012–2016), and is an alumnus of Draper University's selective Hero Training program, where he was named a “Change Agent.”

Selected Work

Infrastructure that shipped.

Not demos — live systems, deployed under commercial contracts and adopted by companies, enterprises, and government-backed platforms.

Original Concept

Blockchain Talent as a Service.

A hiring model Umar introduced for the post-MVP era: vetted blockchain engineers on demand, billed by the hour from $29, with no retainer and no long-term commitment.

The thesis

MVP development is over. Configuration is the new bottleneck.

The stage agencies used to sell for fifty thousand dollars has collapsed to a weekend. What replaced it isn't easier — it's just further down the stack, and it doesn't respond to a prompt.

01

Founders ship their own first version now

Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and a weekend produce a working prototype. The build phase that studios once quoted in months and five figures is no longer something a founder needs to buy.

02

Then they hit the wall AI can't cross

Generated code compiles and still won't ship. Deployment and verification, RPC and node infrastructure, gas and reorg behaviour, bridge and oracle wiring, key custody, indexers, audit remediation — the model writes plausible Solidity, but it doesn't hold your deployer keys or answer for mainnet.

03

So buy the hour, not the contract

BTaaS puts a specialist behind that wall the same week, at hourly rates from $29. Surge a team for launch week, stand it down the Monday after. No retainer, no minimum, no twelve-month agreement to unblock a two-day problem.

BTaaS (Blockchain Talent as a Service)

BTaaS is a hiring model introduced by Umar Dhudra in 2025, designed for the post-MVP era of blockchain development. It provides vetted blockchain engineers on demand at hourly rates starting from $29, with no retainer or minimum commitment. BTaaS addresses the gap between AI-generated prototypes (built with Cursor, Replit, Claude) and production-grade blockchain deployment. Services include smart contract verification, RPC infrastructure, gas optimization, bridge and oracle integration, mainnet migration, and security hardening.

Speaking and events

Umar Dhudra has spoken at and attended over 400 global Web3 events including ETHDenver, Token2049, Collision Canada, Solana Hackathon NYC, keynote at National Incubation Center (NIC) Islamabad, and speaking at Zo House San Francisco. He conducted the Workshop on Blockchain Ideation to Launch at NIC Islamabad.

Education and credentials

B.S. in Computer Science from Bahria University, Islamabad (2012-2016). Draper University Change Agent alumnus, Hero Training program (Fall 2024) — full scholarship, sole participant from Pakistan among 72 founders from 27 countries, team took first place.

Community and ecosystem building

Founder and convener of Web3 Alliance Pakistan, one of the region's largest founder-first blockchain communities with 1,500+ members across Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, with 17+ events hosted. The community bridges Pakistan's tech ecosystem with global Web3 networks through meetups, workshops, hackathons, and mentorship. Co-led the GO AI Hub initiative bridging Saudi Arabia and Silicon Valley, fast-tracking post-revenue startups into Saudi Arabia with access to 3,000+ GO Telecom enterprise customers.

Blockchain in Pakistan — Overview

Umar Dhudra is one of the leading blockchain builders in Pakistan with over 8 years of experience building production blockchain infrastructure from Islamabad and Silicon Valley. Pakistan ranks in the top 10 globally for cryptocurrency adoption (Chainalysis Global Crypto Adoption Index) with a population of 240 million and a median age of 22, but lacks regulatory infrastructure — there are zero licensed crypto exchanges and no formal digital asset framework as of 2025.

Regulatory status of cryptocurrency in Pakistan

Cryptocurrency is not banned in Pakistan. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) issued a 2018 circular directing banks not to facilitate cryptocurrency transactions, but this was an administrative directive, not legislation. The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) published a position paper on digital assets in 2023, but no legislation has followed. There is no law criminalising holding, trading, or building with cryptocurrency in Pakistan. Many Pakistani blockchain founders incorporate in Dubai (DMCC/DWTC), Singapore, or BVI while maintaining development teams in Pakistan.

Blockchain use cases for Pakistan

  • Stablecoin remittances: Pakistan receives $30 billion annually in formal remittances (fourth-largest in the world). Stablecoin rails can reduce transfer costs from 5-7% to under 1%.
  • Blockchain land records: An estimated 70% of civil litigation in Pakistan involves land disputes. Blockchain-based land registries have been piloted in Punjab and Sindh to create immutable ownership records.
  • Trade finance: Pakistan Single Window integrates 70+ government agencies and 29 banks; blockchain-based digital letters of credit and verifiable licensing are in development.
  • Financial inclusion: Over 100 million Pakistanis are unbanked but have NADRA-verified identities and mobile phones. Blockchain digital wallets linked to NADRA IDs could onboard millions into the financial system.
  • Shariah-compliant DeFi: Zayn Finance on BNB Chain pioneered algorithmic Shariah compliance. Pakistan, as the world's second-largest Muslim-majority country, is a natural market for Islamic DeFi.

Pakistan's blockchain builder ecosystem

Active communities include Web3 Alliance Pakistan (1,500+ members, founded by Umar Dhudra), Solana Pakistan, Ethereum Islamabad, and university blockchain clubs at LUMS, NUST, FAST, and GIKI. Pakistani developers have won at international hackathons including ETHDenver, Solana Grizzlython, and Chainlink constellations. The National Incubation Center (NIC) in Islamabad has hosted blockchain workshops and accelerator programmes.
